New parents need support. Remember the saying: “it takes a village to raise a child?” It’s true even today. As a Postpartum Doula, I am there to not only support the new mother but also the family as a whole. I teach new parents tricks on how to bathe, diaper, calm/soothe, feed, and burp their baby. My goal is not to take over complete care of the newborn, but instead help ease parents into their new role through education and support.
My primary focus is on assisting the new mother, baby, and the family within the first few weeks after birth. I provide breastfeeding tips, household help, nursery organization, light meal preparation, and assistance with how to safely and ergonomically wear your baby. I may also help your family with older children, relatives, and grandparents to integrate the newest family member as well.
We know that the human brain undergoes major changes in the postpartum period so it's important to get support during this critical time. As a new parent, you need help in order to optimize these major architectural changes in the brain, create a meaningful secure attachment with your infant, manage the transformation of your family, and do it all in a way that isn't leaving you feeling totally run ragged. Allow me to help guide you through this transition into parenthood with presence, grace, and FLOW.
