Greetings! I’m Stephanie Schnell, a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (provisionally licensed) living in Ennis, Montana after spending nearly a decade working with kids and families in Anchorage, Alaska. I was born and raised in Red Lodge and am so grateful to be back in my home state, continuing the work I love.
I’ve had the privilege of working with youth, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings, including residential treatment programs for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. I specialize in working with children, teens, and parents, and I am passionate about supporting all people through life’s challenges in a way that feels safe, empowering, and connected.
I’m certified in Sandplay Therapy and take a person-centered, creative, and compassionate approach to counseling. I utilize a variety of evidence-based interventions and modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer family therapy and enjoy supporting caregivers in building strong, trusting relationships with their children. I’ve facilitated parenting classes using both the Love & Logic model and Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) working with biological and foster parents to strengthen attachment, improve communication, and promote emotional regulation.
When I’m not in session, I love spending time outdoors with my two dogs, Linda and Gus. Nature has always been a source of grounding and restoration for me, and I try to bring that same sense of calm and connection into my work with clients. I’m currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth sessions. I welcome individuals of all ages and would be honored to support you or your family on your journey toward healing and growth.
