NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS- WAITLIST ONLY
As a dedicated full-time school counselor at an elementary school, my passion lies in working with young children and their families, but I also find immense joy in supporting teenagers and young adults. School counseling is a dynamic, solution-focused field that encompasses academic, career, and social well-being, while embracing the holistic nature of the entire family system. Just as I view my students, I believe that clients must be understood within the context of their larger systems. I firmly believe that all behavior is a form of communication, and transformative change occurs when we shift communication patterns and foster supportive communities. In my perspective, physical and emotional well-being are intricately interconnected.
Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of working with children and adolescents in diverse roles. From conducting research in an endocrinology department to being an au pair in Austria, interning at a residential youth treatment center, providing care for wonderful families as a nanny, and engaging with students from kindergarten through eighth grade in public schools, I have developed a rich and varied set of experiences. Additionally, I have worked with adults with brain injuries as a life skills trainer in a residential home.
My formal counseling training encompasses a range of specialized areas, including individual and group counseling skills, addiction studies, adventure counseling, and child and adolescent development. I often approach individuals through the lens of individual psychology, which emphasizes holistic understanding, the importance of meaning-making, the desire for belonging within communities, and the idea that behavior is goal-oriented. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to empower clients in transforming their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.
Although I am originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Montana has always held a special place in my heart. Spending summers amidst the breathtaking Beartooth Mountains during my formative years and now officially calling Montana home for the past three years, I am deeply proud of this beautiful state. Alongside my fiancé, we cherish the experiences of camping, hiking, skiing, and taking leisurely walks with our two beloved dogs.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Intervention and Prevention studies from Colorado State University. Additionally, I have earned a Master of Education in Counseling with a concentration in School Counseling from Montana State University. It would be my honor to accompany you on your journey towards personal growth and well-being, and I invite you to reach out and embark on this transformative path together.
